The Kola nut is from an evergreen tree indigenous to parts of West Africa, growing up to 20 meters tall. Religiously and socially symbolic, Kola Nuts are used in rites of communion in African communities. It is the famed ingredient in Coca Cola, but has long been revered for its effects as a stimulant.
Kola nuts (Cola Nitida) have been used historically to increase a person’s capacity for physical exertion, endure fatigue without food and for stimulating a weak heart. The Kola Nut was said to make ideas become clearer, thoughts flow more easily and clearly and to make fatigue and drowsiness disappear.
Usually, the nuts are chewed with an average dose of two to six grams. The effects last for approximately 6 hours after ingestion. |
